Social media is becoming an important intermediary for interaction between governments, governments and citizens and governmental agencies and businesses. However, despite rapid adoption, a growing concern and skeptism regarding the use of social media exist in the public sector. The weaponization of fake news and hate speech must be mitigated, hence the retreat.
