Popular online doctor, Dr. Olufunmilayo Ogunsanya, widely known as ‘OurFavOnlineDoc,’ is suing journalist Fisayo Soyombo and the Financial Intelligence Journal (FIJ) for defamation.
The move comes after FIJ published a new rape allegation against him, which Dr Ogunsanya vehemently denies, calling the report a “relentless media lynching” and a “character assassination” designed to damage his reputation.
The story, published recently, features an account from a former University of Ibadan student, who falsely claims that Dr Ogunsanya invited her to a hotel in Ibadan in 2018 and forced himself on her despite her repeated refusals.
According to the report, the accuser, whom the media house intentionally made anonymous, alleges she said “no” more than ten times, but Dr Ogunsanya allegedly proceeded to have sexual intercourse with her.
In response to the false allegations, OurFavOnlineDoc denied all claims, asserting that the accuser remains anonymous, providing no name or social media handle.
He argued that this anonymity prevents him from verifying evidence or locating any communication that could defend him.
“No name. No Twitter handle. A completely anonymous accuser. Which effectively means that because there is no name/handle, I cannot search my phone or my Twitter DMs to be able to get any evidence to defend myself,” he said.
According to him, the deliberate decision to anonymise the accuser effectively ensures that the allegations stick in the public space while denying him a fair opportunity to respond.
Dr Ogunsanya also criticised the journalist and the publication for failing to contact him before running the story.
In his statement on X, he said, “Fisayo Soyombo and the FIJ team ran an entire character assassination campaign on me without hearing from me at all. I was never contacted to present my side of the story.
“Even far worse than the Bola Aseyan story, Fisayo has published a WHOLE STORY about me without giving me any fair hearing at all. Because he has an agenda to destroy me at all costs and by all means.
According to the story by FIJ, which only contained the accuser’s narration with no concrete evidence. OurFavOnlineDoc further dismissed claims that he “begged” the accuser for sex, which were reportedly labelled as rape in the article.
“He described this portrayal as unfair, saying he is being convicted based solely on a so-called “rapey attitude” rather than concrete evidence.
According to Dr Ogunsanya, the accuser shared selective screenshots from their chats that were carefully curated to make him appear guilty. He alleged that if the full conversations were published, they would clearly prove his innocence.
Highlighting contradictions in the accuser’s narrative, Dr. Ogunsanya noted that in one chat, she reportedly stated she “can sleep on the same bed with me,” a statement dismissed as a “typo” in the FIJ report.

As seen in the image, she clearly stated that she ‘can sleep on the same bed with me,’ a statement that was neither edited nor corrected by the accuser. However, FIJ dismissed it as a ‘typo,’ further highlighting their intent to portray Dr. Ogunsanya in a negative light.
He also pointed out inconsistencies regarding hotel details, the timeline of messages, and the alleged loss of their communications.
Dr. Ogunsanya accused the journalist of having a personal agenda against him, citing a previous failed attempt by FIJ to misrepresent the Bola Aseyan story.
He argued that the current allegations are part of a calculated effort to “carry out a wholesale media slaughter” of his reputation using anonymous accusers and selective evidence.
In a scathing critique of FIJ, Dr. Ogunsanya described Soyombo as a “pathetic, disgraceful, vindictive, beer parlour journalist” and accused him of turning journalism into a tool for public defamation.
He concluded by warning that legal action would follow, saying, “You will hear from my lawyers regarding this unfair, unreasonable defamation turning your media house into a slaughter ground of innocent people’s reputation.”
This latest accusation comes in the wake of an earlier FIJ report on Bola Aseyan’s rape claims and other similar allegations, all of which Dr. Ogunsanya has consistently clarified.
