How time flies! How power wanes! Nothing is permanent in this world. ” Oba mewa, Igba mewa”. Ten kings , ten seasons . It is always good to make good use of any opportunity that God bestowed on one for posterity and future. A good leader will build successful followers not jejune, bootlickers, drunkards, chronic debtors and upstarts.Integrity, personality, image and social standing of your followers determined who you are in a society because the popular axiom says, ” show me your friends and let me know who you are”.
It is sad that a former Olorioko in Ekiti who ruled his conquered territory with fiefdoms can now assemble misfits as arrow head of his ambition because he failed to develop anyone successfully to carry his Senatorial ambition banners. Most of the people he appointed to positions when in power avoided him like plague because they hardly felt the impact of the appointments. The policy of his “don’t let him be hungry but don’t let him starve” while Oga is swimming in billions has opened the eyes of the followers.
“Use and dump” policy will no longer work here. In a region where we have some many qualified ,experienced and vast politicians but one could only assemble minions as hatchet men speaks volumes of such a leader. Where are the political veterans that catapulted him to the exalted position in the past? They had been used and dumped. A hunter who kills and makes sacrifices does it not because of today but of tomorrow. You can only deceive the people for some times but not all the times.
A cursory look at the pedigrees of the minions urging Oga to run to say the truth show that they want a pound of flesh from him to satisfy their insatiable hunger and deprivation of the past by Olorioko. Some of them could not make ends meet but eating from hands to mouth. No successful project can be executed by these hungry looking folks. When Julius Ceasser was on his way to Capitol, he was told to “beware the ides of March ” Oga please beware because the game is up. We must tell you the truth because we love you. Oga please beware. A word is enough for a wise
