The National Cybercrime Center of the Nigeria Police Force has successfully arrested the owner and key members of the notorious Gistlover Blog, following a petition filed by Honorable and Doctor Mrs. Seye Oladejo.
The arrests are linked to a case involving Conspiracy, Cyberstalking, and Threats to life, as reported by Linda Ikeji Blog.
According to ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police force’s spokesperson, the apprehended individuals—Adebukola Kolapo, Nnedum Micheal Somtomchukwu, and Isaac Akpokighe—are allegedly part of a syndicate known as the Gistlover family.
This syndicate is believed to operate the Gistlover blog, a microblogging platform notorious for engaging in Cyberstalking, incitement, Blackmail, and other illicit activities, raising public concern over time.
In an official statement, the police revealed that the suspects confessed to their involvement in the conspiracy during interrogation, aligning with the substantial evidence already gathered.
Adebukola Kolapo, known as Omo oba Gistlover, reportedly played a significant role in creating over 80 percent of the Gistlover pages, leaving a digital footprint for the commission of criminal acts.
Being allegedly on the payroll of the platform with perks such as cars and monetary incentives, Adebukola’s responsibilities extended to scouting, editing, captioning contents, and specifically targeting the complainant, Hon. and Dr. Mrs. Oluseyi Oladejo, with cyberstalking posts.
Furthermore, Adebukola is accused of aiding in the laundering of funds acquired through these illegal schemes using various means.
Digital forensic analysis led to the discovery of eight Gistlover pages, all reportedly created by Adebukola at the direction of the syndicate’s head, along with wallet addresses linked to money laundering activities. The police are expected to continue their investigation into this elaborate cybercrime network.
