GOOD NEWS YET AGAIN FOR EKITI FROM BUHARI….. REFLECTIONS FROM PROF BOLAJI ALUKO ON THE WARRI-ITAKPE RAIL LINE
Certainly, Just look at the map again…..

There are many parts of Ekiti that are less than one hour or so to Ajaokuta… So a rail path to the sea for Ekiti goods opens up if and when this rail line is fully and properly deployed… Not just for the originally conceived Steel.. Remember Minister of Steel Fayemi?
The proposed Osogbo to Ado Ekiti ( having Ibokun bypass) and Ado Ekiti to Imesi Lasigidi in Gbonyin ( having Ode Ekiti as bye pass) and Imesi to Somorika in Akoko ( with Ikare as a byepass) and finally Somorika to Agenebode on the Ajaokuta main link .
There you have it

That does not preclude extension of rail from Osogbo (which has a steel milling industry) to Ado-Ekiti, possibly to join up with Ajaokuta?)
Heads up, folks!
Dear All:
When I heard Uromi in the accompanying video, my little Geography told me that no way could the Ishan town of Uromi be on the rail way between Warri and Itakpe.. So I went finding out the true story….
My Geography was wrong….
Quote
The Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri rail line is passing through the following communities in Delta (Aladja, Urjevwu, Orhowhorun, Agbarho, Ovwori, Okpara Inland, Abraka and Urhonigbe), in Edo (Idumuesah, Ewossa, Agbor, Ekpon, Igbanke, Isanlu, Ekehen, Uromi, Ubiaja, Aigere, Uzanu and Agenebode) and in Kogi (Nashe, Ajaokuta Steel Complex, and Itakpe).

And there you have it.
Great story… The country must be opened up by rail….through Ekiti, for example…. More time needed though….

Warri-Itakpe-Ajaokuta rail line completed, says minister
ITAKPE-AJOKUTA-WARRI RAIL LINE
“The Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri rail line is passing through the following communities in Delta (Aladja, Urjevwu, Orhowhorun, Agbarho, Ovwori, Okpara Inland, Abraka and Urhonigbe), in Edo (Idumuesah, Ewossa, Agbor, Ekpon, Igbanke, Isanlu, Ekehen, Uromi, Ubiaja, Aigere, Uzanu and Agenebode) and in Kogi (Nashe, Ajaokuta Steel Complex, and Itakpe). I think the Federal Government needs to work with the LGs in these area on the site development and land-use planning for this corridor to prevent uncordinated haphazard development.
A future extension of the Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri line northwards by about 200km will take it through Lokoja, Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kuje up to Idu linking up with the existing Abuja-Kaduna line and the planned Kaduna-Kano line.
The Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri has a total of 12 modern stations with two located between Itakpe and Ajaokuta, while are located between Ajaokuta and Warri, Delta state.
They station include Itakpe station, Eganiy Station and Adobe Station, all located within Itakpe, and Ajaokuta Station.
Others are; Itogbo, Age Ebode, Uromu, Egehen, Igbanke, Agbor, Abraka, Okpara and Ujewu Stations.
Agbor station has been completed while construction work is ongoing at the others.
