A group, KACCIMA Concerned Group, has decried the activities of an “illegal council” of the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA).
The group, which is made up of registered and fully accredited members of the Chamber, described the activities of the council members as “unholy and self-seeking”.
The group, led by its Chairman, Abdul’Aziz Sabitu Mohammed, made the remarks while addressing a press conference at the NUJ Press Centre, Kano, on Tuesday.
We are here this afternoon to bring to the notice of the local and International partners of KACCIMA, the prevailing happenings in the organisation, especially as it concerns the self-seeking and unholy activities of the illegal Council who are parading themselves as the Council Members without any election.
“Unfortunately, many of them are not registered members and/or financial members. Instead of them to comply with Article 11 of the memorandum and Article of the Chamber, they chose themselves without regard to the law.
“Many of them are on self-seeking adventures to the detriment of the legally registered members. The public should be aware and not deal with them or give them any recognition.
“The Concerned Members are currently taking legal steps to address the disturbing and unfortunate act of these self-seeking individuals,” the group said.
It called on the National Body of the Chamber (NACCIMA) and its regional body (CONSCCIMA) not to recognise the council members “who are already restrained from taking any steps and to also make sure to supervise and see to the credible elections of the council members who will pilot the affairs of the KACCIMA.”
It also called on the Kano State Government and the State Ministry of Commerce “not to deal with these illegal council members. They are already politically partisan and their aim is to destroy the integrity and clear objectives of the administration of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, whose policy is to derive commerce and investment within and outside Nigeria.”
