
The lawmaker representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency ll, Hon Biodun Omoleye on Thursday commissioned a modern science laboratory donated by Dr. Opeyemi Abe to Comprehensive high school,Iroko-Ekiti in memory of his late wife,Mrs Christianah Opeyemi-Abe.
Speaking during the commissioning,Hon. Omoleye commended Dr. Abe for his commitment to the development of his community through investment in education, noting that his contributions would remain indelible in the history of Iroko-Ekiti.
The federal lawmaker described the donation as a clarion call to individuals ,groups and communities to partner with government in development of education sector, stressing that government alone cannot shoulder the enormous responsibility of providing all needed infrastructures
Hon. Omoleye further stated that the gesture would complement the huge investment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in education sector across the state.


He urged both teachers and students of the school to make judicious use of the facility and ensure proper maintenance of the equipment provided.
The lawmaker also pledged additional support for the school, including the provision of a library,solar-powered light and the construction of an access road to the school.
In his speech, the Chairman of the occasion and former Second Republic member of house of representatives, Hon. Bode Ajewole lauded Dr. Abe for the laudable initiative and his dedication to educational advancement in the community.
Also speaking,the Oluroye of Iroko-Ekiti,HRM Oba Sunday Ekundayo expressed delight over the developmental strides taking place in the town during his reign. The Monarch highlighted several intervention by Dr. Abe in Iroko-Ekiti,including schorlarship for outstanding students from JS1-SS3, donation of textbooks,schorlarship for higher institution students and financial support for market women and artisans,among others
The monarch stated that the people of Iroko-Ekiti would remain grateful to Dr. Abe for his unwavering love and commitment to the progress of the community.
In his address,the donor,Dr. Opeyemi Abe, explained that the project was conceived out of his desires to create an enabling environment where students could learn science through both theory and practical application.
According to him, education remains one of the greatest investment any society can make,as it serves as the foundation for sustainable development.
He described the laboratory as not just an additional structure but a major investment in the future of the younger generation, encouraged students to remain focused and commitment to their studies.
” I appeal to the teachers and students to maintain the facility properly so that generations yet unborn can benefit from it”he said.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Executive Chairperson, Irewolede LCDA, Hon.(Mrs) Dupe Bakare, Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission,Mrs Rhoda Ojo, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on teacher’s matters,Comrade Fatai Oluyede, school Principal,Mrs Foluke Babatunde and state Chairman of Nigerian Union of Teachers,Comrade Lawrence Egbeyemi.
Following the commissioning,Hon. Omoleye and other dignitaries were conducted round the laboratory building comprises fully equipped chemistry,physics and biology laboratories fitted with modern science equipment.
