Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 elections, has addressed rumors and perceptions surrounding his relationship with Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) counterpart, dismissing any sentiments of envy or obsession towards the former Governor of Anambra State.
In a recent space titled “MIC ON PODCAST” held on Saturday, Sowore clarified his stance on the purported “OBIdient” movement, highlighting that it lacked authenticity.
I am not envious of Peter Obi or obsessed with him because the (OBIdient) movement is not real,” Sowore stated during the session.
He further elaborated on his previous involvement in supporting Obi, claiming to have played a pivotal role in facilitating Obi’s candidacy within the Labour Party. Sowore asserted that he provided crucial documentation that assisted Femi Falana (SAN) in securing Obi’s position within the LP.
If not for me, Peter Obi wouldn’t have become the candidate of the Labour Party. I was the one who provided the document that was used by Femi Falana (SAN) to get Peter Obi a spot in the Labour Party,” Sowore claimed. Sowore also referenced his past support for Obi during his tenure as governor, citing instances where he utilized Sahara Reporters, the media platform he founded, to expose alleged plots against Obi by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
