Insecurity: Fayemi’s stride to rehabilitate Ado-Akure road commebdable-NUPENG
The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas, NUPENG Ekiti State Chapter has lauded the efforts of the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to facillitate the rehabilitation of Ado- Akure road which has become a death trap in recent times.
There is no doubt that, the road has become a safe haven for criminal activities ranging from kidnapping, robbery and banditry because of the deplorable condition of the road.
The group gave the observation in a release signed by its Chairman Comrade Olumide Jegede and made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti.
Govermor Fayemi had in June this year led a team from Ekiti State to Abidjan, Cote D’lvoire headquarters of African Development Bank AFDB where he met with the Bank’s President Dr. Adesina Akinwumi to solicit the body’s assistance on nemerous issues affecting the State with the rehabilitation of Ado-Akure road scaled through among others requests to improve security and economy of Ekiti State.
It is unfortunate and worrisome the deplorable state of the road which has encouraged nefarious activities by the men of under- world with many ives loss and millions of naira paid as ransome to Criminals.
Apart from that, Transporters, Travellers and particularly Consumers of Petroleum products had to pay more because of the risk associated with plying the road. Therefore as a major stakeholder on the road, it is to say the least that, the rehabilitation of the road will improve our trading and bring succour to the masses.
It is a matter of fact and undisputable assertion that, Ekiti People are paying more either directly or indirectly on petroleum products and transportation becuase of the present condition of Ado-Akure road.
The rehabilitation of the road will no doubt bring great succour and relief to petroleum and other related bussinesses between Ekiti and Ondo States in no small proportion.
The conducive and government-private harmonious working relationship promised during the campaign and swiftly being created by Dr. Kayode Fayemi administration in Ekiti State deserve a thumb up by all, especially by bussiness men and women.
“Government relationship towards the private sector in the State since inception in October 2018 has been warmly and laudable, hence the improve in the living standard of the residents.
It will be an understatement to say, Government efforts at all levels needed a collaborative zeal and support from private organisation to develop the Society because government cannot achieve the desired progress and development alone”.
The NUPENG however expressed its unfliching support towards the present government in Ekiti State especially in its efforts to make life more bearable and meaningful for the people.
Comrade Jeged said NUPENG will not shy away from its responsibility of making petroleum products available to the People of the State especially at a pump price approved by the federal government through proper monitoring and supervision of the products from the depot to the last destinations in Ekiti.
It would be recalled that, it was like a war before Marketers of petroleum products could make a living due to the disposition of the former governor Ayo Fayose towards them especially on illegal taxes, harsh and unfriendly working relationship created by his government.
What we have now is a nothing but a clear departure from the government of intimidation, harrassement, oppression and greedy which was the order of the day even at the expense of the masses who were at the recieving end then.
The group however enjoined the people of the State to continue to support the present government in its resolve to alleviate their sufferings through various economic and development strides.
