LASCOPA executes court judgment in favour of a complainant.
The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has executed the court judgment the Agency won, in favour of a complainant Mrs. Abimbola Omole
The judgment which was given by the Presiding Magistrate of the Small Claims Court in Ogba, Mrs. O.I Raji was between Mrs. Abimola Omole and Mr Yemi Komolafe the respondent
The Agency had received a complaint from the Complainant who alleged that she paid the sum of One Hundred and Seventy Thousand Naira only to the respondent Mr Yemi Komolafe for a self-contained apartment located at 2, Popoola Close, Abule Egba in 2016 which was not released to her.
LASCOPA upon the receipt of the complaint forwarded a letter requesting Mr. Komolafe’s response to the allegation against him which was not denied and mediation was organized to help resolve the issue.
According to the Agency, the failure of the respondent to comply with the resolution and his undertaking during the mediation session at LASCOPA necessitated the litigation process at the Small Claims Court
Mr. Komolafe had promised to completely refund back the money paid as rent for the self-contained to the complainant in a written undertaking on installment on or before the 6th day of April, 2018 but failed.
The Agency further disclosed that a letter of demand was written to the respondent haven defaulted severally after the first installment of Thirty Five Thousand Naira was paid with an outstanding balance of One Hundred and Thirty Five Thousand Naira.
LASCOPA therefore urged residents of the State to forward complaint on infraction of their consumer rights with regards to services or goods purchased.
