MASSIVE FRAUD UNCOVERED IN EKSU
DEPUTY GOV, VICE – CHANCELLOR, SSG, COMMISSIONER IN 500 MILLION NAIRA CONTRACTS SCANDAL
Ekiti state Deputy Governor, Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka and Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University (EKSU) Prof Oye Bandele and two political appointees of Governor Fayose are currently entangled in a web of N500million contracts scandal.
Sources close to the University disclosed to I -Alert, a Security and Information Agency that the Vice- Chancellor, in cahoot with the out- going deputy governor, Professor Kolapo Olusola, the Commisioner for Education, Hon Jide Eegunjobi, the SSG Dr Modupe Alade have allegedly perfected a deal to ferry out the sum of 500million naira from the account of the University through unapproved contracts before October 16, 2018.
The reliable source said that the Registrar of the University have since last week been put under intense pressure by the VC to give out the letters of Awards of the spurious contracts to enable him (the Vice Chancellor) and his co travellers in the alleged fraud to collect the money up front.
According to a highly placed official of the University, who sought protection, the VC was said to have initiated these fruadulent contracts after a meeting with Professor Olusola Eleka and Hon Jide Eegunjobi recently.
In the said meeting. Professor Eleka and Eegunjobi allegedly told the Vice-Chancellor that they had become pennyless after the July 14, 2018 and therefore need rehabilitation and financial assistance from the University.
“The duo allegedly told the VC to give a 125miliion Naira worth of contract to supply Laboratory Equipment to Professor Olusola Eleka, another sum of 39.7 million naira to supply Entrepreneurship equipment to be given to the VC and his surrogates and the sum of 30million naira contract for of buildings for those in the Governing Council. The Vice-Chancellor allegedly went behind to award another contract worth 180million for non existence Science Equipment
A three man Committee set up by the Chairman Governing Council. Mr Dele Adesina (SAN), comprising Professors Ifedayo Akomolede, Ifeoluwa and the Registrar of the University had earlier in their report said that the award of the contracts did not follow due process and must not be approved. But the Vice-Chancellor allegedly went behind the Council to give approval to these contracts”.
The official added that the Vice-Chancellor had been running from pillar to post in his desperate bid to coopt the Registrar into the shady deal so that the University can pay the money into the accounts of the political appointees.
“They are desperate to collect the money before October 16 and the VC and his fronts have allegedly been piling pressure on the Registrar to issue the letters of Awards”. the source added.
You will recall that similar attempts were made recently by the Vice Chancellor of the University to sell some property of school located outside the campus under the pretence of sourcing for funds to pay the staff salaries.
It was later discovered that the VC was allegedly acting on the directive of the outgoing governor Ayo Fayose who we learnt wanted to add the proceeds of the sales to his illegally acquired looted funds
