Ekiti State recorded a massive turnout today as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) trooped out across the state’s 177 wards for the party’s presidential primary, conducted through direct voting.
The exercise, which began early in the morning, saw party faithful queue patiently at designated ward centres to cast their ballots for President Bola Tinubu. Party officials described participation as overwhelming, with crowds at most centres exceeding expectations.
Hinting at the weight of the exercise, Governor Biodun Oyebanji was present at his Ikogosi Ward, where he joined other party members to queue on the line and cast his vote for the president. His presence underscored the governor’s alignment with the party’s grassroots mobilization drive.
State and local party executives were on ground across the wards to supervise proceedings, ensure order, and interface with members. Security personnel were also deployed to maintain peace and prevent disruptions throughout the voting process.
Leaders at various centres said the turnout reflected the party’s cohesion and the confidence of members in President Tinubu’s leadership. “What we are seeing today is the strength of the APC at the grassroots. Ekiti is speaking clearly with its numbers,” one ward chairman said.
The direct primary format allowed all registered APC members to participate directly, making today’s ward-level turnout a key indicator of the party’s mobilization strength ahead of the 2027 elections.
Results from the wards are expected to be collated at the local government level and forwarded to the state secretariat for transmission to the national body.
