Usman Okai, the 2023 People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency, has criticized Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State for allegedly spending his initial 100 days in office serving as a chauffeur for former Governor Yahaya Bello, using taxpayers’ funds.
In a statement issued by Okai, he condemned Ododo’s actions as a display of sycophancy, expressing concern over the governor prioritizing the needs of a political ally over addressing critical issues such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure in the state.
Okai lamented the state of affairs where schools crumble and hospitals lack adequate equipment, yet Ododo allegedly chose to dedicate his time to serving as a personal chauffeur, a move perceived as a luxury for the elite while neglecting the masses.
The PDP chieftain emphasized that such conduct is not in line with governance principles and represents a betrayal of the trust placed in Ododo by the citizens of Kogi State. He urged accountability from leaders and called on the people to demand better representation.
Okai concluded by stating that Governor Ododo’s actions reflect poorly on his character and commitment to serving the people, emphasizing the need for citizens to hold their leaders accountable and advocate for justice and equality.
