OF LILLY MINDED INTELLECTUALS & BIG SHOTISM….I sent Hajia Aishat Alubankudi off to Gulu!! By Gbenga Dan Asabe
OF LILLY MINDED INTELLECTUALS AND BIG SHOTISM
This morning I sent a very important woman, Hajia Aishat Alubankudi off to Gulu for reasons best known to me.
I never planned to send her to Gulu, but I discovered she was over religious for my liking and she didn’t posses the kind of intellectual exposure I thought of her, I was shocked.
First and foremost, let me tell every one of our friends here. It doesn’t matter who you are, even if you are the Richest man/woman in Africa, and you behave in ways that does not match my perceptional expectations of you, I will take you out to Gulu.
In this part of the world, people think that once they are rich and connected, then you must cow-tow to them hook line and sinker. That you must celebrate their big-shotism and swallow their arrogance like a chill bottle of coke or Fanta.
Look, let me tell you for free, you are nothing, even with all your wealth and supposed connections on earth. It is only GOD that endows success. Your success today might become outdated in the next decade.
So, who are you to think you are something?. Even if you decide to unfriend me, it does nothing to my ego. It simply means you cannot handle my personality. No fighting.
The other day, a popular PR lady who had always supported politicians who failed in the past, unfriended me after the election in a South West State and I was so happy. I wanted to send her to Gulu when I discovered, but my mind told me to overlook her stupidity.
This is a woman i knew right from my days as a magazine reporter. She is in the habit of helping people organize press conferences and she will refuse to give journalists their ‘logistics’ for PR, always claiming she is equally a journalist (because she writes on and off).
She has done this to me more than four times. She is the first PR person I know, that will invite you to a conference on a Monday morning, and leave you to go home high and dry.
I learnt a Pastor Presidential Aspirant sacked her few years back over this kind of jegudu-jera attitude. I think she just enjoys that life style.
In Public Relations, the first intuitional law is ‘don’t mess around with your journalist publics. Be sincere and be truthful to them’. But our Lady is not like that.
So, recently, when she started to follow-follow the new South West state politician who used a ‘by-fire-by-thunder’ tactic to grab power, I knew something was amiss. Of course, my opinion about the arrogance perception of her new subject didn’t go well with her. So, when she unfriended me after the man won, I could understand her frustration.
Days later I saw her name attached to a new body hastily created by the Gomina.
One, if you are successful in your PR practice, you won’t need to be running around a politician for appointment.
Two, if you are indeed intellectually strong as you proclaimed as a journalist/public relations expert, you won’t unfriend a journalist colleague because he was hard on your subject. Instead, you will try hard or work hard to change his perception about your subject.
Because, one, you are the chief marketer of that subject (Gomina or Presidential candidate). But unfortunately, if you don’t have it, you cannot give it.
Sometimes ago, I interviewed Chief Olorunnisola the former spokesman of late Ooni Sijuade (Olubuse II) in the palace (Enu owa) in Ile-Ife, and he told me that one of his chief assignments as spokesperson to Yoruba’s most revered traditional ruler is to bring people who hates his subjects to the constituent of those who love him.
He categorized them into (A) Those who love Sijuade extremely. (B) Those who hates Sijuade extremely, and (C) Those who are undecided or sitting on the fence.
He said his primary assignment was to win those on B And C block to his subject. That is a full blown credible image maker. Not our pajawiri journalist-image maker lady who cannot even run a successful PR firm and had to be jumping campaign vehicle with a politician for post-election gratification.
So, when I discovered that she unfriended me, I said ‘Thank God, minus one intellectual paralysed vessel’.
That is my position to such Lilly Outcasts.
The New Casualty….
Yesterday, I raised a post that Saudi Arabia could not be said to be a Holy Land if the leadership could be accused of masterminding the cruel killing of a global citizen and Journalist, Jamal Kashoggi.
The Kashoggi assassination is one of the biggest news item around the world now. And any rational human being, either religious or atheist should frown at such dastardly act allegedly sponsored by a royal monarchy with full blown religious credentials.
Before recent CIA revelations from Turkey, the Saudi authority denied involvement in the killings even when every evidences pointed to the fact.
My question is ‘should a Holy Land provide citizens that are not afraid of God into political leadership?’.
But trust our people, even though, Saudi Arabia is not their country, they took me on, asking why should I mix political position with spirituality of the land?
In Nigeria, people, I mean grown up adults are so emotional about things that does not concern their lives directly.
They want to kill themselves over it. People kill themselves over football, Politics and religion. Part of the reason is that we have groomed half baked brains in the last 3decades. Poor readers who grew to become weak leaders.
People who dress well, smell nice and eat well but think blank. They wear emotions everywhere they go and can break bottle for the stupid things they believe in.
On this thread, I have abused pentecostal Pastors for their obnoxious manner of running churches, no fanatic came hurling hard stones at me. I have abused rogue politicians for their nefarious Idiosyncrasies and I did not see an army of blind minded opinion killers.
But just because we mentioned Saudi Arabia the like of Hajia Alubankudi came harder.
I was not even angry with her.
I was even trying to explain my opinion to her step by step and gbam! She blocked my comments.
That was a slight on my right to express my own opinion.
So, I sacked and transferred her to Gulu!
I think it was sometimes in December 2016, that we lost many Nigerians to a mass stampede during some ‘spiritual exercise’ in same Saudi Arabia.
We even lost the first female editor from northern Nigeria (I can’t recall her name now) and many Nigerians to that sad incident where a crane allegedly collapsed on people performing their ‘holy rights’.
Many others died in stampede during other spiritual exercises and yet we still spend fortunes going there for Hajj.
Well, China might even be the next Holy Land now, as the entire world is going there for wisdom. I learnt the founder of Islam (SAW) had predicted this long ago.
However, with the brute and animalistic manner Jamal Kashoggi was butchered by agents allegedly working for the monarchy of Saudi Arabia, I think it will make sense for the entire world to question the ‘Holiness’ of a nation run by butchers in Sheikh silk.
And for those who chose to fight me, like Hajia Aishat Alubankudi, I urge you to be tolerant and Liberal in views..
If you cannot, please, kindly send yourself to Gulu!
