In the first quarter of this year, the Federal Government announced with glee the award of a multi-million dollar contract to a Chinese Consortium to effect the construction of a fresh rail link between Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State and Ado-Ekiti, its Ekiti State counterpart.
Over six months into the rail project deal, Ekiti people have waited in vain to see the lucky contractors move to site.
The long wait is already agitating if not depressing the minds of Ekiti people who have been yearning for such a beautiful infrastructural development over the decades to the extent that they now tend to wonder if the proposed rail project is not a fluke like others before it?
I hasten to say that their (Ekiti people) agitation is well placed especially considering the fact that the present administration which initiated the project is almost on its way out. We all know the unedifying history of abandoned public projects in Nigeria.
Has the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, any new information to give us on the project please?
