Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s commitment to inclusive governance, continuous stakeholder engagement and industrial harmony was once again brought to the fore as the Advisory Council on Union Matters, Ekiti State, held a strategic interactive meeting with the Ekiti State chapter of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN).
The meeting underscored the administration’s unwavering resolve to sustain a peaceful and business-friendly environment where trade unions, professional associations and other critical stakeholders continue to thrive through dialogue, mutual respect and purposeful collaboration.
Speaking during the engagement, the Chairman of the Advisory Council on Union Matters, Hon. Dele Owoju, reaffirmed the Oyebanji administration’s readiness to create an enabling environment for members of the association and all organised groups, stressing that Governor Oyebanji remains committed to policies that promote industrial peace, economic growth and social stability across the state.
The meeting commenced on a celebratory note as the Chairman of the Ekiti State chapter of RTEAN, Comrade Sunday Adeola, popularly known as Abokode, congratulated Governor Oyebanji on his resounding re-election victory. He described the outcome as a clear endorsement of the Governor’s people-centred leadership and impressive performance in office. Comrade Adeola also highlighted the invaluable roles played by members of the association during the governorship election, particularly in the movement of electoral materials across the state before, during and after the exercise. He expressed appreciation to the Governor for providing a peaceful atmosphere that ensured the successful conduct of the election.
Also speaking, the Public Relations Officer of the Advisory Council, Prince Niyi Adedipe (Apase), reiterated that the Council remains a vital bridge between the government and various unions, ensuring that concerns are promptly addressed through constructive engagement in line with Governor Oyebanji’s philosophy of consultation rather than confrontation.
One of the observers, Mr Lanre Ogunjobi noted that Ekiti has continued to enjoy one of the most peaceful industrial climates in Nigeria’s informal sector, a development widely attributed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s open-door leadership, regular stakeholder consultations and deliberate efforts to build trust across all segments of society.
The meeting ended with a unanimous resolution to institutionalise more frequent interactive sessions between the government and unions, further consolidating the culture of dialogue and reinforcing Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s vision of a united, peaceful and prosperous Ekiti State where every stakeholder has a voice in governance.
