Conceptual rape is when the rulers of Nigeria define as “ultramodern” projects that are largely inferior to what the rest of the world defines as modern. Worse, Nigeria’s inferior “ultramodern” constructions are always twice the cost of similar modern constructions in the rest of the world.
Part of the struggle to regain your dignity is to resist conceptual rape. Imagine if you are a student of LASU and you’ve been taught that what Ambode has just commissioned is “ultramodern”, you’d be in for a very rude shock to your system when you leave Nigeria for civilization and you see modernity.
If you go by very strict global standards, there’s scarcely any modern projects in Nigeria, let alone the “ultra” they throw around so liberally.
The key, however, is in understanding that you deserve what the rest of the world calls modernity.
