In a remarkable comeback, former national junior tennis champion Tania Okpala, currently undergoing rehabilitation for drug-related challenges, has made a triumphant return to the tennis courts. Sponsored by Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the wife of Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, Okpala’s journey to recovery took a significant step forward through her engagement with routine training at City Sports Club.
Impressed by Okpala’s dedication and progress, Mrs. Soludo, who identifies herself as the tennis star’s number one fan, commended her on various aspects of her game. She expressed satisfaction with Okpala’s training regimen, highlighting her work rate, footwork, flexibility, and deep understanding of tennis.
Mrs. Soludo emphasized the importance of the training not only for physical rehabilitation but also as a means to keep Okpala occupied, focused, and mentally balanced during her recovery process. She stated, “I am committed to Tania’s full recovery, and as she progresses, we will positively engage her to ensure she returns to tertiary education for further studies.”
The governor’s wife took charge of Okpala’s rehabilitation and welfare after a viral video depicted the former tennis star facing psycho-social challenges while roaming the streets of Awka. With this renewed focus on her well-being and a promising return to the sport, Tania Okpala’s journey serves as an inspiring tale of resilience and support in the face of adversity.
