This budget is a step in the right direction and provides the much needed tonic to stimulate and boost the economy of Ekiti State. This 2025 budget is a far cry from the past budgets which merely served only the needs of a civil service economy and failed to take serious cognizance of the imperative need to move the state on a path of industrialization and economic growth and development.
Consequently, the Ekiti State economy lacked the capacity to generate the much more-needed employment opportunities for the people, especially the youths of the State and failed to move the population out of the age-long poverty that has characterized the State.
It is therefore gladdening to note that the Governor has seen it fit and proper to craft a budget to start the process of socioeconomic growth and development in the State. This new budget doubles that of 2024 and triples that of 2O23.
Governor Oyebanji definitely deserves high commendation for his patriotic zeal and commitment to start the journey of economic liberation of the State from the stranglehold of poverty and underdevelopment.
However, we advise that this new budget should follow international guidelines on budgetary allocations to education and health, recommended by UNESCO and WHO, as much as possible. Also, we recommend that Ekiti in the Diaspora and their friends should be encouraged to invest in the State and that the State should be prepared to provide an enabling and friendly environment for investors.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE EKITI STATE GOVERNOR, BIODUN ÀBAYOMI OYEBANJI (GOVERNOR BAO).🎈👍👋@ProfKAFA October 30, 2024.

Professor Familoni, in paras 1-3, made us see this budget, as visionary, the Awo way. In para 4, he showered praises on the governor. Here, I got stunned because the earlier paragraphs gave me the impression of a non-partisan commentator.Even at that, I read only excitement, which seems natural. Am sure the professor saw what I haven’t seen.
If the very recent past in Ekiti is anything to go by, triple this amount may make no difference! Three-quarters of that could be frittered away on inanities like the first lady’s office/projects that touch no single life, except members of the *royal* family!Well, we only see the amount, not the allocation breakdown.
BAO still has an opportunity to write his name in gold today-not too late, yet. We, definitely, are not going to spare hooligans ruining our state, making us homeless. This is the only home we have, and we are becoming impatient.I want to salute Professor Familoni for opening up this dialogue about the budget, governance in Ekiti, and the person of the governor.
