As #Copied sequel to a WhatsApp group discussion on the State of State Affairs in Ekiti.I must say, that this EKITI, imbroglio is sorrowful. I have always being of the view that EKITI will bypass all the states of the Federation in good governance and development. Iam surprised and bewildered that, performance from successive governors, since creation, had been negative and poor, despite the orchestrated propagandas.

When EKITI was part of ONDO STATE, the INTELLIGENTSIAs from the area were the most vicious in castigating government ineptitudes. When I was in Minna, my route to OWO was always through OSI KWARA through OYE, IFAKI, ADO AND IKERE. The roads then were inundated with billboards proclaiming EKITI ROAD REVOLUTION ( that was during FAYOSE REGIME. ). then FAYEMI came with his Ostrichy standoffs and QUEEN’S GRAMMATICAL POSTURES OF ELEGANCE. I was expecting the transformation of ADO into a mini London ( CROWDON OR HYDE PARK? ). I was therefore depressed when I was to go to ADO from OWO for a function, about a month ago.
I had already got to EKPORO, before we were advised to go back and take IGBARA-OKE ROAD, because AKURE-IKERE-ADO ROAD WAS/IS IMPASSABLE. With this fuel problem, to go through AKURE IGBARA ROAD? What a distance? 😩😩😩😩? I and my wife had to go back home and called the celebrant to info him on our WOES. The episode reminded me of our Lecturer in DEVELOPMENT ECONOMICS, at UNIBEN in early 80s. He was always saying that the GOD OF CREATION did not create the BLACKMAN FOR SUCCESS AND GOOD WILL. It was his daily mantra and we undergraduates were always hecking him with the chant that we shall shame him in performance. Let our time come.
Sadly today, my age mates are in governance in all sectors, and we have failed. The road issue is everywhere in the country. Having served in all the Army formations in the country, I can vouch that there was a time one can travel by road from LAGOS TO MAIDUGURI OR TO SOKOTO. Or SOKOTO, TO PORTHARCOURT, via Gusau, Kaduna, Kafanchan, Markudi, Enugu, Porthacourt, without hitting a pothole!. In fact there were many times I moved from OWO to KADUNA, my station at about 5:pm, through Okene, Lokoja, Abuja, Kaduna, without any incidence. If one was not careful, you would sleep off because of the smoothness of the roads. Trailers were few and roads not congested as at now.
Weekends we moved from Kaduna, to Ilorin, for Parties after office hours. Smooth sailing everywhere. No kidnapping, no rituals, no armed bandits. Within 30 years all the expresses collapsed. The bridge railings vandalised and the drainages blocked😱😱😱😱. Something is terribly wrong with us the BLACKS. Our Govs go London Paris New York every now and then. They are in love with DUBAI, but they can not turn their villages to Tourist attractions. The cities and towns are EYESORES😭😭😭😭, yet uncared.
And what happened to their much valued and quoted theories on GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT? INDUSTRIALISATION? SOCIAL INTEGRATION AND PRODUCTION ECONOMICS? We have failed as a Tribe and a Race. OYEBANJI will finish his EIGHT YEARS, in Trance or sleepwalking and after will beat his chest for a successful performance and hand over to another SCHOLAR IN QUEEN’S ENGLISH AND PHILOSOPHY. The Praise Singing by the feeble majority continues. It is in our making🤪🤪
