
Few days after the dethronement of the former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, by the government of Kano state, a group that comprises many youth groups across the North Eastern part of Nigeria, North East Youth Progressive Union appreciated the action as being directed at protecting the sanctity of the Kano Emirate.
In a letter dated 17th March, 2020 and signed by the Lead Convener of the group, Ambassador Adamu Jikan Manu, captioned ‘Congratulatory Letter on the Recently Completed Brawl of Kano Emirate Council,” they congratulated governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for that.
It also states that, “His Excellency may wish to be informed that we at North East Youth Progressive Union (NYPU), have been at the forefront in studying the antecedents that unfolded throughout the tussle between the former Emir of Kano and your exalted office.”
Appreciating that, “We admire your desire to salvage the sanctity of Kano Emirate Council…we consider this as a success, not only to His Excellency Governor of Kano state, the entire populace of Kano state, the Kano Emirate Council, but the entire Northern Nigeria. This singular act is also patriotic from whichever angle one looks at it.”
They said their belief in the capacity of the governor to propel the state to the next level “…was recently justified by the APC Progressive Governors’ Forum, when they announced you as the Best Performing Governor in the country. Consequently we want assure Your Excellency for this great success, as it exemplifies your true leadership, and how with this achievement you add another feather to your crown,” the letter says.
It concludes that, “Finally the entire youth from North East wish you all the best in your future endeavours. Once again congratulations for these giant achievements. May you achieve more success in your entire life.”
