SECURITY OF OUR STATE IS EVERYBODY’S BUSINESS.

This is to call the attention of the security agencies and the stakeholders in EKITI STATE to the rate of insecurity in the state.
As a bonafide son of the the state, it will be appreciated if the security agencies can be proactive enough to act fast and prevent further occurrences of this sad event that is taking a new dimension in the recent happenings in the state.
Let me call our attention to the happenings in the state in the recent time. It is no more news to every stakeholders.
The killings and loss of lives and property by the people from underworld is becoming something else. If care is not taken it will become daily activities that will be difficult and become uncontrollable by the authority.
The loss of lives in the armed robbery in Ijero is too much and unbearable to us as concerned sons and daughters of Ekiti State. Less I forget, our condolences to the family of the deceased persons in the incidence. We pray for the fortitude to bear their losses.
We have not recovered from the recent killing of one of the house of assembly members who was killed in a broad daylight and many others in the state.
Ekiti is becoming porous and the members of underworld is taking advantage of this to perpetrate their evil plans and agenda. This porosity will add damage to the fantastic and developmental agenda and vision of the government of day if we lose attention on this matter
We appeal to the *GOVERNOR AND HIS TEAM* including all stakeholders that the following suggested actions will help.
*We need a special squad* to be spread across the state to handle and fish out people who find solace and joy in the destruction of lives and properties in the state. The presence of the squads will to a reasonable level reduce the increased rate of insecurity in the state.
This squad should comprise the soldiers, policemen, civil defence and other security agencies whose duties are within this purview.
*Emergency Meeting of the traditional leaders is essential.* All traditional leaders and other supporting leaders should be called into grassroot assignments of protecting subjects with any sentiments and bias view.
*Special phone numbers* to assist the feedback mechanism be installed to forestall further occurrences or incidence of this nature.
There is nothing wrong if everyone in the state is having access to phone number that anybody can call into in case of any emergency call that requires the urgent attention of the government and security agencies. I will call on the government to look into this as this will help everyone to be security cautious and act as feedback channel to assist prompt decision making processes.
*Massive Public Awareness* is another thing we must engage at the moment. Many of our people still don’t see it that it is not only the duty of government but duty of everyone that it comes to issues of security of lives and properties. Our people need orientation, public awareness, and door to door educative programs to ensure we are vigilant in areas of abode. Security is everybody’s business. While the government is playing its role ,the government must as a matter of urgency give proper orientation to her citizens.
On a final note, the government of the day should know that men of the other side are praying daily for unrest and insecurity in the state but it is left to us to brace up and withstand any ugly face that will be allowed to be used to implement all kinds of evil agenda.
We appeal for quick response from the government and security agencies on this matter.
