The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria SMEDAN has promised to partner with the office of the Special Adviser to Farmer Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago on Women and Affirmative Action,Mrs Mary Noel Berje to enhance women’s development in the state..
The Director General of SMEDAN, Mr Charles Odii stated this in Abuja when he received the Special Adviser on a courtesy call.
Mr Odii said for better collaborations,a state council must be inaugurated to be headed by the Governor and other critical stakeholders.
He listed key areas of partnership as Product Enhancement Scheme, networking opportunities,access to finance as well as business development service.
The Special Adviser to Farmer Governor Umar Mohammed Bago,Mrs Mary Noel Berje who said the visit was to seek possible areas of collaborations to ensure Niger State women get access to SMEDAN Facilities as well as business financing.
“As the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women and Affirmative Action and the mouthpiece of women in Niger State, I have the sole responsibility of speaking for them and seek areas of ease that will enhance the businesses of my women.”
Mrs Mary Noel Berje explained that the move is aimed at making women self reliant to enable them support their families.
She assured the DG of the state government’s readiness to collaborate with agencies and institutions that will bring about the attainment of the 35% Affirmation goals in women, youth and the physically challenged in through his vision of the new Niger agenda.
Mrs Noel-Berje appreciated the agencies readiness to work with Niger State government in ensuring that the livelihood of women is improved upon and given the desired results..
The Director General then took the SA and her team on tour of the facilities at the headquarters which he hoped would be replicated in the state.
