
Stakeholders laud Fayemi government for “Ulera Ekiti”
The Kayode Fayemi-led administration in Ekiti State has again been
commended for its Free Health Mission tagged “Ulera Ekiti” which has
been implemented tactically to extend free health services to its
citizens across the State, especially at the grassroots level.
This commendation was given during a tripartite meeting involving the
National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), Ekiti State AIDS
Control Agency (EKSACA), and Ekiti State Health Insurance Scheme
(EKHIS) held in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The Director, Resource Mobilization of the Federal Ministry of
Health, Mrs. Josephine Kalu who described the meeting, which was for
integration of HIV services as very successful said far-reaching
decisions that will result in drastic reduction in the HIV figure in
the state were taken at the meeting.
While advocating for voluntary HIV screening and testing for all
citizens across the Federation, the Mrs. Kalu called on the Ekiti
State Health Insurance Scheme (EKHIS) to synergize with the Ekiti
State AIDS Control Agency (EKSACA) with the aim of making all
decisions and conclusions reached at the meeting operational in the
state.
Mrs. Kalu, who frowned at the way and manner the immediate past
administration in the state handled all issues bordering on HIV
appealed to the current administration in the state to handle the
issue with all seriousness it deserves.
The Director, who pledged an unalloyed cooperation of her Ministry
with the Ekiti State government, said all machineries would be set in
motion to ensure full implementation of rules and regulations relating
to HIV and testing.
She pledged her readiness to render good and sustainable service to
the state by working in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure a
significant reduction in HIV/AIDS prevalence in the state.
The Acting General Manager of the National Health Insurance Scheme
(NHIS) in Ekiti State, Mr. Shola Shittu, who commended the
collaborative efforts of the Director, Resources Mobilization of the
National Agency For The Control Of AIDS in ensuring that HIV cases
were reduced across the state commended the Ekiti State Governor, Dr.
Kayode Fayemi for his support at reducing the rate of HIV in the
state.
The acting GM described the governor’s efforts as emulative and commendable.
The Programme Manager, Ekiti State AIDS Control Agency (EKSACA), who
was represented by the Agency’s Procurement Officer, Mr. Rotimi Ojo
called for the assistance and intervention of the National AIDS
Control Agency (NACA) if the agitation for participation by both the
Ekiti state government and its people on issues relating to HIV would
materialize.
The EKSACA Programme Manager, Dr. Charles Doherty, who called for
harmonious working relationship between the NACA and Ekiti SACA in the
education and counseling of affected persons, commended the NACA’s
Director of Resource Mobilization for personally attending the
meeting, called for consistency in bringing down the figure of AIDS
victims.
