In a recent interview with Arise News, Chief Edwin Clark, Leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), expressed his reluctance to comment on the case of former Governor James Ibori, who served 13 years in prison for corruption. Clark played a significant role in Ibori’s prosecution and seems to harbor some frustration that others charged alongside Ibori in 2007 are now holding political offices as Senators and Ministers, while Ibori faced punishment. Clark’s statement suggests a sense of injustice and hypocrisy in the handling of corruption cases in Nigeria.
In his words;
“I played a very leading role in Ibori’s case You punish your son with one hand and draw him to yourself with the other. I do not want to hold issues. He has served his sentence. Those who were charged to court with him in 2007 are still parading themselves as Senators and Ministers whereas Ibori spent 13 years in Prison. I don’t want to comment on it. It’s past story. I know what’s going on”
