Indications high that Katsina’s longest serving Senator will resign from active politics before the scheduled APC October 2018 primary!!
Senatorial Abu Ibrahim representing Katsina South senatorial district is an indigene of Katsina State.
Once chairman of the Katsina branch of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP).
Principled in dealings and a pious muslim by nature, in 2002, after unsubstantiated allegations were made against him, he resigned from the party at their National Convention.
In the 2003 senatorial elections he contested for the senatorial seat in Katsina South (Funtua) senatorial district and won under the platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Party(ANPP).
In April 2007, he contested in the Governorship race in Katsina State but unfoutunately lost.
In February, 2010 he resigned from the All Nigerian People’s Party (ANPP).
Abu Ibrahim again contested for the senatorial seat in Katsina South senatorial district in the 2011 senatorial elections and won defeating the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) candidate, Former Deputy Governor of Katsina State- Alhaji Ahmed Jikamshi.
However this time around he contested under the platform of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
In the 2015 elections he was again re-elected as a senator under the platform of the All Progressive Congress.
