The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested two suspects over an attack on officials of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Ikere-Ekiti, recovering weapons and a vehicle allegedly used during the operation in the process.
In a statement on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, said the incident occurred on April 2, 2026, at about 8:00 a.m.
He explained that about 20 armed hoodlums stormed the NURTW Lagos Motor Park in five vehicles.
The attackers were said to have targeted the park’s executives in a bid to forcefully take over its leadership.
They were also accused of destroying campaign posters of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, in parts of the town.
As a result, officers responded swiftly to the distress call, leading to the arrest of Sunday Ogunsakin and Gbenga Oluwatosin, while others fled.
Recovered items include three cutlasses, a jackknife and a Toyota Previa bus, as efforts continue to apprehend other suspects.
