The Ekiti State Government has suspended the distribution of free employment forms to holders of NCE and University Degrees in Education applying for employment as teachers in public primary schools in the
state.
A statement from the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof Francisca Aladejana said the suspension was to avert a stampede following an unprecedented crowd of both suitably qualified and unqualified applicants that thronged the venue of the exercise in Ado-Ekiti.
According to the statement, the Board suspended the exercise after it was discovered that many of the applicants that thronged the venue were not suitably qualified as they were graduates of other disciplines despite announcements that only holders of NCE and University Degrees in Education should apply for the vacant teaching appointments.
The statement said the Board would re-strategize and would within the next few days come up with a new process that will be less stressful and will ensure that only suitably qualified applicants turn up for future recruitment exercises.
Stressing that the Board regrets any inconveniences the suspension might have caused the suitably qualified applicants, it however assured that the process for the recruitment would be transparent and unbiased.
