
According to a report from DAILY TRUST news, Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), appointed Lere Olayinka, a seasoned journalist and media strategist, as his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media. The announcement, made by the FCT Minister’s office on Friday, highlights Wike’s goal to strengthen the FCT administration’s communication strategy. Olayinka, with more than 20 years in journalism, public relations, and media management, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the Special Assistant on Public Communications to Ekiti State’s former governor, Ayodele Fayose.
Olayinka, a native of Okemesi, Ekiti State, and a graduate of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, has established a solid track record in both the public and private sectors. He has been known for his active role in political communications, notably defending the policies and administration of Fayose during his term as governor of Ekiti State from 2014 to 2018. His new role involves managing public communication for the FCT, developing strategies to inform citizens about government initiatives, and enhancing public engagement.
