A number of top media personalities and social media influencers from across the country has landed in Maiduguri, Bornu State Capital for on-the-spot assessment of the war against insurgency spearheaded by the Nigerian Arny, City News reports.
Austin Peacemaker, Chris Kehinde Nwandu and about 40 other online media personalities and social media influencers breezed into the city of Maiduguri at about 3:00 pm Sunday afternoon for a two-day assessment of the efforts of the Nigerian Army aimed at bringing lasting peace to the North-East region of the country.
The assessment and facility tour which is the first of its kind aims at letting the media, especially the online platforms in the country see the various efforts of the Nigerian Army (under the code name “Operation Lafiya Dole) for themselves and fully asses the security situation in the North-East as against getting news and releases from the department of Army Public Relations.
Welcoming the team to Maiduguri, the deputy head of Army Public Relations, Colonel A D Isa informed the team that the visit will give them a first-hand information which is unrehearsed and undiluted; one which would let the media form its opinion about war against insurgency.
The team is expected to visit a number of Army formations in the North/East and also tour a number of hot spots within the region before the visit ends on Tuesday.
