Tomiwa, the 25-year old son of former Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, is at the moment embroiled in a bitter clash over the ownership of landed property at Lekki, Lagos, First News can confirm.
The issuance of double Certificate of Occupancy on a landed property to two different individuals by the Lagos State Government is also now causing ripples at Alausa, the Lagos State seat of power, it was gathered.
The property in question, located at Collins Street, Plot 42, block 81, Lekki Phase 1 in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state, is reportedly being rented out by one Mr. Emmanuel Omotosho, believed to be its original owner.
But recently, hell virtually descended in the premises when hoodlums believed to be loyal to the ex-governor’s son invaded the compound, beat up its tenants, and caused damage to some facilities.
Eyewitnesses recalled that the thugs ordered the tenants to vacate the house within one week or risk being killed.
It was gathered that the landed property was given to the Fayose family by the last administration of Governor Akinwumi Ambode as ‘a gift’.
Fayose, in turn, yielded it to his son, and probably did not know that an earlier Certificate of Occupancy of the land had been given to Omotosho by the same Lagos State Government, since 1990.
Insider sources at the Lagos State Lands and Registry where the fraud of two CofO for one land was perpetrated, revealed that the original owner, Omotosho, posses a CofO dated October 9th,1990, while Tomiwa, Fayose’s son, flaunts a 2017 CofO.
The source added, “Omotosho never defaulted in the payment of the required fees into the purse of the state government as required by the law”.
Omotosho, the source added, had been enjoying his property without any inhibition, until the latest infraction.
Omotosho was in quandary when he recently visited the premises of the house at Lekki, only to be confronted with suspected thugs numbering about 17, who attempted to forcefully chase out his tenants living in the residential building.
The tenants confirmed to our correspondent that they had been living in the house since 1990.
It was learnt that the attempts by the invading thugs to eject the apparently confused tenants were thwarted by a soldier stationed at the property.
In the ensuing melee, the matter was said to have degenerated into fisticuffs before it was taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba Lagos, for the police to look into so that there would not be breaking down of law and order.
While at the station, one Tomiwa Fayose, in company with his father, ex-governor Fayose, was said to have surfaced, claiming that the landed property belonged to Tomiwa, his 25-year old son.
He stated that, the land was given out as a “gift to the Fayoses by the former governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode”.
All efforts to subsequently speak with Ambode and Fayose respectively, proved abortive, as both former governors did not pick our correspondent’s calls to their cellphones.
Omotosho, in a chat, affirmed ownership of the landed property, yielding necessary documents to our correspondent.
Investigators at the SCID, however, reportedly told the parties to bring their respective documents relating to the property for the purpose of authentication.
Checks revealed that Omotosho tendered to the police a photocopy of Certificate of Occupancy registered with number 61/61/1990and dated October 9, 1990, at page 61 of the lands’ volume.
On the other hand, Tomiwa Fayose also brought a Certificate of Ocupancy registered as number 41 on page 41 on Volume 2017 of the Register, kept at the Lagos State Land Registry, with the name OJ KRYSTAL ACE LIMITED boldly written on it.
Short of words, the police at Panti, directed the parties to go and resolve the matter in a civilised way, pending the conclusion of their findings.
