Popular singer Cynthia Morgan has been apprehended by operatives of the Edo State Police Command for alleged cyberstalking of Benin’s crown prince, Ezelekhae Ewuare.
Morgan was reportedly taken into custody on Monday following accusations of cyberstalking the prince since 2020, with claims of him appearing in her dreams.
The arrest was disclosed through an Instagram post by an Edo-based blogger, @Edopride, who shared a video of Morgan being escorted from her residence into a waiting vehicle.
Additionally, a copy of the petition filed by the prince to the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, titled “Defamation, cyberstalking and harassment of Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare by Cynthia Ikponmwenosa Morgan” dated May 4, 2024, was circulated by the blogger.
The petition detailed instances of alleged harassment, including physical trailing of the prince to his workplace and dissemination of defamatory statements on social media platforms.
In response to the accusations, the prince’s legal representation stated that despite issuing warnings to desist from such actions, Morgan persisted in her online harassment, prompting the prince to seek legal recourse.
The prince emphasized his right to privacy and expressed a desire to be left alone from Morgan’s alleged cyberstalking activities.
When approached for comment, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Chidi Nwabuzor, stated that he was not aware of the arrest and had not been briefed on the matter.
