To whom honour is due, it is given. This age long adage and practise of nobility came to bear at this year’s induction into the hall of fame as conducted by the NUJ Osun state chapter.
Preceding the pomp and pageantry of the reception event was the actual recognition and presentation of the dignitaries.
In presence of The imperial majesty, Ooni Of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Royal father of the day the Chairman & Chief Executive officer of Sammya Nigeria LTD, Engineer Adigun Sammy Oreoluwa was inducted into the Osun state chapter NUJ Hall of Fame. Also inducted by the body of journalists into the prestigious hall of fame were the Chairman of APC in Osun state, Prince Adegboyega Famodun, the state Commissioner for Finance, Honourable Bola Oyebamiji, the Pioneer Chairman of NUJ in Osun state, late Comrade Lekan Awoyemi, who was given a posthumous award at the ceremony.
Chairman of the occasion, Prince Kayode Adedire who incidentally is chairman ”League of veteran Journalists” was equally in company of the state head of service, Osun state government, Dr Festus Olowogboyega Oyegbade as the special guest of honour.
Professor Wasiu Ademola Oyedokun of Federal University, Oye Ekiti chose a distinguished area to speak on in his lecture at the event, “Vote Trading, Implication and prospect of Democracy in Nigeria”.
Speaking at the ceremony, Adigun decried the unproductive attitudes of the nation’s youths, stating that ”We spend less than 30% of our time on productivity activities”. He stressed that the nation’s youths must move away from get rich schemes and focus on skills harnessing activities that can yield financial gains whilst fulfilling their passion.
He equally advised the youth to seek redress through Agricultural development in all ramifications in order to facilitate developmental and economic productivity.
He concluded that for the country to develop tremendously, vocational education and other programs that would bring sustainable development should be embarked on in an efforts to grease the wheel of productivity.
Vocational and technical skills acquisition will create wealth and for those who are learned technology and digital skills will help them fligh poverty. Hardwork. Consistency. Persistentency tenacity and continued self capacity training and improvements always pays off.
