Over the years I have been motivated to write about people and institutions as the inspiration came. It might have been by way of commentary, a poetry prose or outright article celebrating an individual who has excelled in his/her human endeavours, or someone celebrating a milestone and any departed person of interest to me.
As at the time of publishing this book, I have written over 140 articles and commentaries on various kinds of people who cut across different professions and integrated callings – academics, medicine, financial market, marketing communications, entrepreneurs, the clergy, royal fathers, artisans, peasants, world stars, culture and tradition custodians etc. Those people I have written about were unique in their own way and in the circumstances surrounding them. Majority of them, I had direct contact with and we related together as depicted in some of the pictures in the applicable chapters. In a way, those pictorial essays where I appeared tell part of my story too. The rest of the personalities I wrote on, I admired them from afar because I got to know them by their reputation. The institutions I wrote about are essentially my alma mater and an Ekiti indigenous intellectual roundtable that I was inspired to convene on the 6th of March in 2005. I am a passionate Ekiti man, naturally, I told the story of my state briefly, in the book in order to put some facts of history concerning my Jerusalem in proper perspective.
In all, I have put all the abridged biographies of individuals, profile of institutions and my other commentaries on different personalities in the past over three decades in 100 chapters as one compact book. Primarily, it is to track and preserve all my inspired writings for ease of reference and for the benefit of those who may find them interesting to read and for posterity sake, in one-stop book.
I must appreciate those who gave feedback on my published articles and various books which to a reasonable extent encouraged me to write more. I am always happy when I put my thoughts down. It is my hope that you will find this addition to the stable of my published books interesting to read too.
There is no attempt to paint anyone as perfect in this book because no mortal fits that status. What I have done in celebrating the chosen ones here is to tell an integral part of their story briefly, with emphasis on their very beautiful sides that are already in the public domain and essentially from my humble perspective.
Nevertheless, there will be something to learn from the life experiences of others by the readers so inclined, which this uncommon book offers. The reality is that most of them whom I have written about in this book are neither not likely to write autobiographies nor have formal biographical books written on them. This special publication will be in the public domain forever on Amazon and various libraries for ease of reference. Therefore, with over 140 abridged biographies in one hundred chapters, it is like having 100 books in one book.
Some instructive, motivational and profound quotes were inserted at the end of some chapters purposely for the page planning of this book, at the same time to inspire readers. Likewise, some vintage photos that speak to each subject matter are in this book. I wish everyone who gets a copy of this pictorial book a refreshing reading.
