Lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly have served impeachment notice on the state Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi. Ajayi was accused of gross misconduct. He resigned from the the ruling APC and defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party but insisted on remaining in office. It was gathered that 14 lawmakers supported the impeachment of Ajayi. The Nigeria High Commission in Canada says it is set to evacuate Nigerian citizens stranded in that country due to the COVID-19 back home. The mission in Ottawa, Canada said this in a statement on Monday. It said Portuguese airline and Euro Atlantic Airways have been chosen for the evacuation. The News Agency of Nigeria gathered that about 300 stranded Nigerians had earlier signified willingness to be evacuated home. The first evacuation flight, earlier scheduled for May 14, was cancelled. The Department of State Services (DSS), yesterday arrested two staff of the National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) that attempted to smuggle files out of the corporate headquarters of the agency in Abuja. The staff, who were identified as Madam Ochei and Tope, were allegedly arrested while attempting to smuggle files out of the legal department of the NSITF.
