The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of some suspects, including a ritualist, linked to the recent killings in Akinyele Local Government Area of the state. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that no fewer than five persons were brutally killed in Akinyele LGA in June. Information reaching us indicate that a new Acting Chairman for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been appointed to replace Ibrahim Magu, the former embattled anti-corruption Czar. The new EFCC boss is the Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Ball Ciroma. It would be recalled that Ibrahim Magu’s convoy was intercepted on Monday and the embattled former Acting Chairman of the EFCC was taken away by plain cloth policemen. In continuation of its renewed strategy and vigour for effective delivery of its regulatory mandate, the Nigerian Communications Commission has created a Digital Economy Department, principally responsible for implementing programmes and policies aimed at fully supporting and promoting the national digital economy agenda of the Federal Government.
