The Ekiti State chapter of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) has bemoaned the situation, whereby political parties in the state are no longer in close relationship with the state government as it used to be in the past.
The conference attributed the seemingly frosty relationship between the state government and political parties to the selfishness of certain individual who would bully the government in the day and crawl back at night to seek pecuniary assistance.
CNPP noted that instead of ensuring good rapport between the government and the political parties, the individual has been blackmailing the government and vilifying its officials, pointing to the latest antics of the said individual, who chose to attack the person of the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Kayode Fayemi on mobilization, Mr. Tunji Ogunlola, while operating under a pseudo name of Kolawole Ajayi, who called for the replacement of Mr. Ogunlola as SSA Mobilization.
“CNPP wants to bring it to the notice of Mr. Ogunlola’s detractors that we are very proud of Mr. Ogunlola’s achievements in office as no other person has been able to mobilize for the government in his official capacity like the former CNPP chairman is doing”.
“Calling on Governor Fayemi to replace Mr. Ogunlola amounts to an effort to subtract from the government one of the most effective hands in the mobilization efforts of the administration, as most people within and outside government have acknowledged and the governor himself is aware of.
The conference noted that since nobody changes a winning team, and that the call for the removal of Mr. Ogunlola from office was done in malice and as such would be of no effect to our shroud and discerning Governor, who can identify misplaced advice meant to run down his aides.
CNPP says it was sure that the government and good people of Ekiti state would ignore the ranting of the so called Kolawole Ayeni, who claimed to come from Ikole ward 4, where investigation has shown him as an unknown element in Ikole politics.
The Ekiti State branch of CNPP calls on politicians in Ekiti state not to follow the example of the said Kolawole Ajayi by engaging in politics of bitterness and frivolities.
According to the political association, investigation has revealed that the actual person calling for Ogunlola’s removal is someone who is leading a political group, under whose leadership political parties in the state have not benefited much from government since he is busy cornering every benefit to himself.
CNPP was of the view that the platform under which this fraudulent character was publishing his lies has reputable members who should have warned him against his disgraceful behavior of telling naked lies to pull other people down.
