
We, the 7th Ekiti State House of Assembly Members under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye, held our retreat at Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort to commence another legislative year.Also read:: The 7th Ekiti State House of Assembly member’s Spouses has again donated school materials to some students in Ekiti.We hereby issue this communique:
1. We appreciate His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for smooth working relationship between the Executive and the Legislature. The synergy is very heartwarming and our people are the major beneficiaries in terms of good governance and impactful service delivery.
2. We greatly appreciate Mr John Olajide, CEO of Cavista Holdings, for his generous sponsorship of this year’s retreat. Capacity building for legislators in any form is never a waste, and we thank Mr John Olajide for his unwavering support to Ekiti State House of Assembly in this regard.
3. We commend CAVISTA Holdings Ltd for its unwavering commitment to the development of the state particularly its partnership with Ekiti State Government in the area of Tourism and Agriculture, which has brought remarkable boost to the internally generated revenue of the state.
4. The Ekiti State House of Assembly will never relent in passing peculiar laws to address peculiar issues and flexible laws to adapt to changing circumstances in the overall interest of Ekiti people.
5. The House will continue to optimally perform its constitutional roles of lawmaking, oversight, and appropriation diligently towards ensuring good governance in the state; parliament is the custodian of any functional society.
6. It is extremely important to emphasize our legislative oversight role, which is very crucial at this challenging time for robust and effective implementation of laws and policies of government to improve the standard of living for the people.
7. We understand that the consequences of social unrest can be detrimental to a country’s stability and progress, therefore,the House will continue to ensure that the dividends of democracy get to the most vulnerable in the society.
8. We recognize the current economic hardship in the country and appreciate the efforts of the Governor in supporting the citizens during this challenging time.
9. The House resolves to continue the account of stewardship of LGAs and MDAs and this shall be concluded before the state of the State address of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to further promote the culture of openness, accountability, transparency and good governance.
10. The House will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders and civil society organizations for effective communication of legislative activities to the people through continuous improvement of our e-parliament by upgrading our website and ensuring automation of all our legislative activities.
11. We will continue to engage our constituents and stakeholders to gather diverse perspectives that may lead to laws that are good for their current needs.
12. The House remains committed to our mantra of responsive and responsible legislation and the mantra of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to keep Ekiti working towards shared prosperity.
