Ekiti Eleven, a Socio-Political group established for implementation, growth and development in the state, has expressed delight over the appointment of one its members, Professor Eddy Olaonipekun as the new Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU).
The pronouncement was made recently by Governor Kayode Fayemi following several applications and presentations of professors vying for the coveted office. The governor declared Prof. Olaonipekun after meeting all necessary requirements to assume office.
One of the major strides of this association is producing members who will only drive the economy, using their offices/professions to buttress leadership, capacity building and Entrepreneurial growth, promote education and advance the socio-political engagement of the people of the state.
Eulogizing Prof. Olanipekun, Chairman E-Eleven Chief Kola Akosile said the association has continued to demonstrate its prowess in producing technocrats and professionals who duly run the affairs of the state.
“This association, after producing two governors in the state namely, Segun Oni who was a former governor and the sitting governor Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, has now produced a Vice Chancellor for the first time in the history of the association.
“In the best interest of the state, we will continue to contribute our quota on human capital development as well as supporting the government in the area of economic development by deploying more technocrats into the system,” he said.
Director General Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency, Otunba Kayode Fasae expressed his happiness over the news of the new VC saying that it is an ideal move by the government.
“I am elated because a member of this group is the new Vice Chancellor of EKSU. It is paramount to us to be part of the developmental process of the state. As an association, we have the mandate to support the man power of the government. I personally can attest to the personality of Professor Eddy Olanipekun as a man who is capable of rendering quality service to the state through this office,” he said.
General Secretary of the Association, Mr. Oska Ayeleso said E-Eleven is endowed with strategic personalities that have helped shaped the growth and development of the state, adding that the newly appointed VC is a trusted hand on the job.
“I know a very intelligent and highly respected professional in the person of Prof. Eddy Olanipekun. We at E-Eleven have no doubts in his qualities and administrative prowess. He is the man for the job and I want to thank Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s administration for making such a smart decision in the interest of the state. Ekiti State University will now see a different and innovative approach to academic leadership,” he said.
Appreciating the association for their support prior and after the pronouncement, EKSU Vice Chancellor, Eddy Olanipekun said it is a privilege to serve in the aforementioned capacity.
“The government has called me to serve in the academic space of the state and I will do so diligently. EKSU remain a pivotal institution in Ekiti by producing intellectuals who have contributed immensely to the development of the state and I am committed to taking the vision of the institution to the next level.
“As a proud member of this association, I appreciate the love extended to me by all distinguished members; I thank them for the unending support thus far. We have contributed so much to the state but I can say authoritatively that this is only just the beginning of good things to come,” he said.
