The Attorney General of Ekiti State Olawale Fapohunda has denied the report that he has a hand in the re-arrest of the convener, #REVOLUTIONNOW, Omoyele Sowore.
The Attorney General clearly stated that he never spoke with Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN, on Sowore’s matter or any other related matter and that he was not in Abuja as was claimed in the false report circulating online.
He, therefore, dissociate himself with the post and advise readers of social media content to ensure that they verify stories before taking an emotional stand on issues contained therein.
According to his statement:
“ This morning I received several calls and text messages. Most of the messages were filled with hate and threats.
All these was a fallout from a commentary I allegedly posted online in the matter of DSS V Sowore.
Bewildered I asked my media team to conduct an internet search. We then discovered a statement attributed to Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN who purportedly quoted a “Wale Fapohundas” eye witness account of what transpired at the Federal High Court Abuja yesterday.
To be sure,
“I did not write that statement.
“I did not speak with Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN on Sowores matter or any other related matter. I understand the learned silk has issued a disclaimer.
“ I was not in the Federal High Court Abuja yesterday or any other court in Abuja. For the avoidance of doubt
“I was in Okemesi Ekiti preparing for the Ekiti State Local government elections which will be held today.
“I am compelled to call for the responsible use of social media. It may also be necessary to advise readers of social media content to as much as it is reasonably possible to try to verify stories before taking an emotional stand on issues contained therein.
