Ekiti State Government has begun the compilation of federal government
projects in the state hitherto abandoned by past administrations with
a view of resuscitating them for the benefit of Ekiti people.
Ekiti State commissioner for Regional Development & Special Duties, Mr
Ayodele Jinadu who revealed this in Ado-Ekiti said a major attention
was being paid to a multimillion naira Integrated Waste Management
Project ( IWMP) at lkere-Ekiti in the South Senatorial District of
the state.
The commissioner hinted that the IWMP has the potential of generating
over 1000 direct and indirect employments when fully operational
noting that government was already making contacts with the Federal
Government to ensure that the project becomes a tool of gainfully
engaging several youths in the state in waste – to – wealth activities.
While lamenting the deplorable state of the project, he expressed hope
that the Buhari- led administration with its penchant for employment
and youth empowerment would ensure the project was given a new lease
of life.
“You can all attest to the commitment of the Fayemi- led
administration in revamping moribund industries across the state to
secure the future of our teeming youths. Examples are Gossy Water
Bottling Company, lkun Dairy Farm among others. Fayemi like President
Buhari, is continuously working to revamp projects and industries that
could be a major source of livelihood for our people’, he explained.
The Commissioner who thanked the Federal Government for the level of
works at the Federal Secretariat currently under construction in the
state noted that the secretariat when fully ready would provide a
platform for a better interaction between the two tiers of government
and also generate employment.
He explained that aside federal government projects, projects
undertook by the defunct western region government in the state were
being compiled with the hope of resuscitation.
In his contribution, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr
Ayodele Ajimati expressed hope that many youths will be taken out of
the street as soon as the government programme on moribund
industries and projects start yielding more fruits.
He implored the people of the state to support government in its bid
to make lives better for them.
