Ekiti state Government in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of
Women Affairs and social Development has distributed food items and
hygienic materials as palliative to vulnerable women across the state,
as part of efforts towards alleviating their suffering during this
Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti during the official flag off for the
distribution of food items and aseptic materials, Commissioner for
Women Affairs and Social Development, Chief Mrs Mojisola Fafure who
explained that Ekiti is one of the pilot states that benefitted from
the first phase of the program.
Mrs Fafure who stated that Ekiti was lucky to be part of the programme
which was the result of Governor Kayode Fayemi’s concerted efforts and
connection with the Federal Government, noted that it will definitely
give succour to the household of the beneficiaries, that includes
vulnerable female headed households, indigent women with disabilities,
widows, aged women and women living with HIV.
She expressed her gratitude to Ekiti state Government under the
leadership of Governor kayode Fayemi for putting in all necessary
efforts which made the state a beneficiary of the laudable program.
In her remarks, The permanent secretary for the Ministry of Women
Affairs and social development, Eunice Oladimeji charged the
beneficiary to always adhere to the rules of Covid-19 in the state by
washing their hands regularly, use of hand sanitizer and the use of
face masks to prevent any further spread of the virus in the state.
While responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, the President of
the Widows Association in Ekiti State, Mrs Fabusola Florence thanked
the Federal Government and Ekiti State government for being so
passionate about the welfare and wellbeing of the less privileged and
vulnerable women during this Covid-19 pandemic, adding that the food
items and other materials distributed this will go a long way to
alleviate their suffering.
