• Calls for active engagement of graduates in skill acquisition.
Ekiti State Head of Service has called on the Management of the Ekiti
State University (EKSU) to work out modalities to actively engage
jobless graduates who roam the streets, by instituting Diploma Courses
that will engender skill acquisition.
Speaking during a Valedictory Visit to the Vice Chancellor of the
University, Prof. Edward Olanipekun, the Head of Service, Mr. Ayodeji
Ajayi, who is due to retire on February 7, 2020, bemoaned a situation
where graduates of institutions remain jobless for years after
acquiring requisite qualifications.
He stated that rather than looking for the scarce jobs, the youths
could become job providers.
Ajayi also charged the Citadel of Knowledge to always make available
outcome of research on health, education, technology and others to the
government and Public Service to form inputs to formulate policies
that will be beneficial to the masses.
The Vice Chancellor assured the outgoing Head of Service that his
requests will be considered and implemented as soon as possible.
He extoled the virtues of the Head of Service, saying the legacies
built by him will continue to serve as veritable reference to the
growth of the Public Service.
Olanipekun disclosed that the institution will be fully residential in
a couple of months as student hostels and Staff quarters will soon be
constructed on the campus.
He also commended the State Government for approving road network of
about 5 kilometres for the Institution.
In the same vein, the Head of Service was at the Local Government
Service Commission and the Teaching Service Commission, where the
Chairmen, Hon. Abejide and Hon. Abegunde respectively, congratulated
him for the good legacies he is leaving behind as he retires from the
Civil Service.
They urged him to maintain his sterling qualities that earned him the
coveted seat.
The Head of Service called for a more conducive working environment
for the Public Servants in the two Commissions.
