The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has declared its determination to remove the All Progressives Congress from power in the June 20 governorship election, following its relocation to a permanent party secretariat in the Ajilosun area of Ado-Ekiti.
The State PDP Chairman, Tunji Odeyemi, said the move signalled the party’s readiness to reclaim leadership of the state, expressing confidence that the opposition would emerge victorious at the polls.
Odeyemi stated that the party had resolved to fully activate its structures ahead of the election, insisting that the PDP remained strong enough to defeat the ruling APC.
He alleged that the party was earlier forced out of its rented office after the landlord, whom he accused of supporting the APC, locked the premises without a court order while party property was still inside.
chairman maintained that the PDP had the experience and political strength required to govern Ekiti again, adding that the emergence of its governorship candidate would further energise its campaign efforts.
According to him, mobilisation would begin in earnest immediately after the party produces its flag bearer, stressing that members were already united toward achieving electoral victory.
The Director-General of the Oluyede Campaign Team, Ogundipe Komolafe, described the occupation of the permanent secretariat as a major boost to the party’s resolve to dislodge the APC from power.
Komolafe said the facility would serve as a coordination centre for statewide mobilisation across the 16 local government areas, urging party faithful to intensify grassroots campaigns as the PDP prepares to unseat the ruling party.
