Some Suspected gunmen have allegedly invaded the home of the leader of Yoruba Self-Determination Group, Ilana Omo Oodua, Prof. Banji Akintoye located at Similoluwa area of Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital. The alleged attack was contained In a press Statement Signed by the Communications Secretary ofIlana Omo Oodua WorldwideMaxwell Adeleye and made available to Africannewshub Correspondent in the state. He said gunshots were fired into the house of the renowned historian by assailants whom he added apparently climbed a chair outside the gate of leader of the Yoruba separatist group to shoot in.

Adeleye noted that the Leader of the Yoruba self determination group, Prof. Banji Akintoye was not at home as at the time of the invasion stressing that nobody was hurt during the alleged invasion into his house. He further stated that bullets suspected to be from AK 47 rifles were recovered after the suspected gunmen left the scene. Adeleye explained that the matter has been reported at the area commander’s office in Ado Ekiti for possible investigation, Arrest and prosecution of those involved in the act. Akintoye, a renowned Historian, hails from Ado-Ekiti. He represented the Old Ondo State in the Senate from 1979 to 1983. He is currently leading a peaceful agitation for an Independent Yoruba Nation from Nigeria. Adeleye recalled that few months ago, unknown armed men invaded the house of the Scion of the Akintoye dynasty, Ademola, an Engineer, in Agbor, Delta state, exterminating the building, including his rich fish pond. The Spokesperson also noted that Police have not up till this time arrested anyone in connection with the crime. “We the Yoruba people within, and beyond the horizon of Nigeria will hold the Nigerian Government responsible if any evil happen to our leader or any of his relations”. All efforts made to speak with the Police public relations officer in the state, ASP Sunday Abutu were not successful as he did not pick calls placed on his mobile phone, and also refused to reply to the text message sent to him as at the time of filling this report.
