The Ministry of Justice, Ekiti State today published the details of another convicted sex offender.
Lateef Afere Oluwaseun from Aramoko-Ekiti was recently convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by an Ado-Ekiti High Court for the rape of a 14 year old girl.
In a statement issued by Olalekan Suleman Esq., Special Assistant to the Honourable Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice on Public Education, Media & Communications, the naming and shaming of Convicted Sex offenders is in furtherance of the Zero tolerance policy of the State government for sexual violence against women and girls. Suleiman said that the Ministry will continue to aggressively prosecute sex offenders and will also ensure persons convicted do not benefit from Mr Governor’s powers of early release from prison. He further informed that the State House of Assembly is currently reviewing the criminal Laws of Ekiti State with a view to enabling stiffer punishment for sex offenders while at the same time recognizing the need to support victims of crime including rape victims.
