
In a bid for effective mobilisation of voters ahead of the Ekiti State Governorship election slated for June 20, 2026, in which Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is seeking re-election, the governor’s support group, BAO Volunteers, has donated N10 million to the Ekiti State Governorship Campaign Council for mobilisation efforts ahead of the poll.
The Chairman of BAO Volunteers, Chief Jide Awe, gave out the cheques to the groups central to mobilisation drive to support them in their campaign activities.
While the Chairman of the Mobilisation Committee of the council, Sunkanmi Onipede, received a cheque of N10m on behalf of the campaign council, the Coordinator of BAO Anchor groups, Gbenga Agbeyo, received their cheque on behalf of the groups.
Giving out the cheques on behalf of the group in Ado-Ekiti, the Chairman of BAO Volunteers, Chief Jide Awe, said the money should be distributed among 177 wards “in support of the re-election of BAO on June 20 governorship election to continue the good work he is doing “.
The group also donated N500,000 to BAO Anchor groups to assist in their mobilisation efforts for the flag off of campaign slated for Monday, April 27, which marks the beginnng of the campaign activities ahead of the June 20 governorship election.
The group also donated money for branding of campaign items, including caps, banners and food items, for effective mobilisation.
BAO Volunteers is a group of chief stakeholders and top politicians across the state who championed Oyebanji’s victory in his first term election. They also represent the core groups across all the local governments and local council development areas that have been projecting the activities of the administration in its development efforts since inception in 2022.
