Ekiti State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development,
Alhaja Maryam Ogunlade has called on the residents of the Children
Correctional Center to give room for positive change to enable them
achieve a greater and better future.
Alhaja Ogunlade who made the call during a visit to the
correctional centre in Ado Ekiti charged the children whose age range
between 12 and 17 years old charged to see their present abode as
a correctional place and use the opportunity offered to put their life
straight while anticipating a better future.
She encouraged the residents to be optimistic with an assurance of hope
that potential future leaders can still be raised among them.
“This is not the end of your life but a passing phase that can change
your life positively if you can utilize the lessons and experiences
acquired in this Centre.
In his response, one of the residents, Oladejo Awogbosu described the
Centre as a reformation and correctional institution with a promise to
imbibe and maintain the good culture, moral and spiritual lessons
acquired as a life guide after leaving the place.
One of Social Welfare Officers in charge of the Centre, Mr Tunde
Ajayi, commended the Ekiti State Government for its support and
pledged the commitment of the entire staff at the Correctional Centre
towards achieving a reformed life style of the residents.
