The Chief of Staff to the Ekiti State Governor, Hon. Biodun Omoleye
has called for self-development amongst youths in the State to enhance
their potentials and position them for future greatness.
Hon. Omoleye, who made the call in Ado Ekiti during
a parley with representatives of youth bodies in the
State, explained that the meeting was organized to allow a joint
review of the past and project for the future.
Omoleye stressed the need for youths to champion a new course for the
future in order to achieve a distinct result different from
the usual results arising from using same methods over and over
again.
He also emphasized the need for youths to explore the advantages of
modern technology in order to be able to compete favorably and remain
relevant in the scheme of things globally.
“We must not be left behind, the country is moving forward, this is
jet age. Ekiti must be in the fore front and the youth are the agent
of change in any society. Ekiti youth cannot be left behind”, he said.
“Youthfulness is not a time wasting exercise, we need to tap into the
global advancement, demographically, youth constitute larger
percentage of Ekiti population and so by any standard you are in a
position of influence”, he stressed.
Hon. Omoleye advised youths in the State to see opportunities in
the various challenges confronting the nation, stressing that they
need to develop interest in proffering solutions to the problems.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Youth and Sport Development, Hon.
Michael Awopetu reiterated the commitment of Governor Fayemi to youth
development.
Awopetu said that the Fayemi led administration would roll out an all
encompassing youth development policy before the end of April, 2021
that is expected to take care of the interest of youths in the State
holistically.
He said they must however key into the various Government programmes
and take advantage of the opportunities presented by the Fayemi led
administration to improve their lot.
Also Speaking on behalf of the youth, the Speaker of Ekiti State Youth
Parliament, Rt. Hon. Toba Fatunla expressed appreciation to the Fayemi
led administration for being youth friendly and for giving them the
audience they needed to express themselves.
