The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani has
said that Ekiti State would continue to frown at non qualified entities in the medical
profession and will strife to continuously flush them out the state.
He made this known while playing host to the leadership of Association
of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, Ekiti State chapter and
Joint Health Sector Union, Ekiti state chapter that paid him a
courtesy call in his office.
The Commissioner, who reiterated the commitment of the state
government to improve on the welfare of medical profession in Ekiti
State, echoed that his door would be opened to every health union to
facilitate quality health care service delivery to the people of Ekiti
State as prioritized by the government of Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Earlier, the Chairman of AMLSN, Mr. Peter Aladejare and his JOHESU
counterpart, Mrs Omotola Farotimi commended the Commissioner over his
familiarization visits to the health facilities.
The duo pleaded with the commissioner to consider some of their
plights which included employment of more qualified medical laboratory
personnel, stagnation of medical laboratory technicians, and
reactivation of the public health laboratory among others.
The union leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the development of
the health sector in Ekiti state as they appreciated Dr. Kayode Fayemi
led government for the face-lift at Ekiti State University Teaching
Hospital.
